About Galapagos Islands, Planning Your Trip, Santa Cruz Island, Weekly Photo

Puerto Ayora is the main town on Santa Cruz Island and is the most populous of all towns in the Galapagos with an estimated population of 12,000.

The town is very well laid out, with Avenida Charles Darwin starting at the dock, going through the main part of town, past the tourist shops and fish market by Aventura Lodge and ending at the Charles Darwin Research Station. The map shows the location of Las Grietas (bottom center) and the road heading to Tortuga Bay (left center).
