Hungry Sea Lion at Santa Cruz Fish Market, Galapagos Islands (Weekly Photo)

Galapagos Islands Animals, Galapagos Marine Life, Santa Cruz Island

On Santa Cruz Island there is lots to do – without needing a naturalist guide. A highlight for many visitors is the Fish Market in Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz Island. It is located just around the corner from the Aventura Lodge – at the entrance into the town.

This weeks photo is of a hungry and very adaptable sea lion. Among the other 4 or 5 that were there that day, he was the most brave – and the only one to stand up on his flippers, and thus the only one to get the fresh fish skin.

Doesn’t he appear to be mimicking the other customer, even just a little?
