The Rugged Coastline of Tortuga Island (Galapagos)

About Galapagos Islands, Places to See

While traveling between Floreana and Isabela Islands, you’ll pass Tortuga Island. It is full of seabirds – by the thousands.

Aside from the birds, the other feature that really stood out was the coastline. The rock comes almost straight out of the water and goes up at an impossible angle. Despite the angles – there are marine iguanas, sea lions and crabs everywhere. Our boat captain slowed the boat down and came in close to the shore so we could see all the animals.

Make sure you ask your captain to slow down while passing the island. See an aerial photo of Tortuga Island.
