We know you love adventure. Kayaking in Ecuador is an unforgettable experience that you can do on your way to the Galapagos.

Kayaking in Ecuador

Mainland Ecuador has many great places to kayak. You can have nature encounters in historical places as Lago San Pablo or a natural sanctuary as La Isla de los Pajaros (near Puerto el Morro). These are just a few examples of where you can kayak in our beautiful country.

Kayaking on Ecuador’s Coast

On the Pacific coast, we’ll visit the suburbs of Guayaquil (near Puerto Azul). You’ll be surrounded by mangroves and see many birds. Most of all, you’ll understand the importance of the mangroves for the ecosystem and you will have a very peaceful experience.,

Puerto el Morro is a very special place because of how close it is to the 300-year-old San Miguel el Morro Church.

While kayaking in El Morro, you’ll meeting local fisherman who will share their experiences with you and your guide. This is an amazing opportunity to understand another culture and see how people live in different circumstances. Here in El Morro, you’ll be able to see a lot of birds like frigates and herons and many species of fish. If you’re lucky, you might even see some dolphins.

El Morro is surrounded by mangroves, which are a protected species by the government laws.

Kayaking in Ecuador’s Highlands

The Andes Mountains cross our country from north to south. In the highlands, we have many lakes with historical and religious importance.

You’ll have the opportunity to kayak in these lakes, surrounded by spectacular mountains and landscapes. Cuicocha Lake is a very peaceful lake with a lot of historical meaning for the Otavalo culture. While you get comfortable kayaking at 2000m above sea level, you will have a relaxing adventure enjoying the Andes Mountains.

San Pablo Lake, the source of work and living for the town of Otavalo, is surrounded by mountains. Otavalo has a beautiful handcraft market that we’ll visit to find your favorite Ecuadorian handcraft.
