Here’s what you’ll see and do on this 3 day / 2 night tour with Flipper’s Hotel Galapagos.
Day 1. Highlands of Santa Cruz
Visit the highlands of Santa Cruz Island, where you’ll see the contrast of the arid lands, beaches and tropical forests.
Los Gemelos: Visit twin sinkholes (not volcanic craters). This is a great opportunity to see the biodiversity of the Galapagos, endemic plants (Scalecia Forest lichens and mosses) and birds Darwin finches and perhaps the short eared owls.
Giant Tortoise Farm: Walk among these gentle giants where they roam freely in their natural environment. See them up close and watch them feed.
Lava Tunnels: You can also explore a cavernous underground Lava Tunnel where you can view one of the geological wonders of our volcanic islands.
On day 2, you’ll travel to one of these islands. (Includes lunch)
Santa Fe Island
Santa Fe is one of the oldest islands of the Archipelago and is the home of the endemic Barrington land iguana. You’ll find a large sea lion population and a dense forest of the giant Opuntia (prickly pear cactus).
Tour Highlights and Inclusions:
- Visit one of the oldest volcanic islands in the Galapagos.
- See the unique Barrington Island Land Iguana.
- Landing on an isolated beach popular with Sea Lions.

South Plaza Island
South Plaza Island is a small island formed by lava up streaming from the bottom of the ocean. It is home of the giant land iguana and a huge sea lion colony, and famous for its extraordinary plant life, including the sesuvium ground vegetation that changes color depending on the season: green, orange, and purple.
The dock is almost always occupied by families of sea lions, the mothers and their pups. We’ll take a walk among a beautiful vegetation and you may see the iguanas resting under the shadow of the opuntias. If we’re lucky, you will see the hybrid iguana – the resulting mixture of a male marine iguana and a female land iguana.
In your way back you will see one of the largest colonies of sea lions.
Snorkeling is not permitted in this island.
North Seymour Island
Home to blue footed boobies and of one of the largest populations of frigate birds.
The island was created by internal volcanic eruptions over time that gave it their actual appearance.
The endemic plant of this island is the lignum vitae tree, that give the island a very special appearance. In the summertime they look like dead trees, but after the February rains, they become green overnight. You will also see Opuntia cactus, Croton, Castile and Sesuvium.
Wildlife: Blue-Footed Boobies, Frigatebirds, Colonies of California Sea Lions, Marine Iguanas, Land Iguanas (occassionally), Swallow-tailed Gulls, Red-billed Tropicbirds and Nazca Boobies (occassionally), White-tip Sharks, Galapagos Sharks, Rays, Pelagic and Reef Fish.
This is a great snorkeling location.
This island has the most beautiful landscape of the whole archipelago. Some of the flora of the island includes chamaesyce, tiquilla fusca. It is home of one of the most important penguin colonies of the Galapagos Islands.
After landing, take a short easy hike to the highest view point: 360º view of the archipelago. To the east you can see some spatter cones formed by lava that give the island a dreamlike appearance.
Take a walk on the beach with the possibility of seeing rays and Galapagos white tipped sharks. Afterward you will have an impressive snorkeling around the Pinnacle Rock with opportunities to observe penguins, marine turtles, white tipped reef sharks, and other tropical fish.
- Bartolome is a volcanic islet just off the east coast of Santiago Island.
